Itinerary Description:
Day 1:
Auckland - Hokianga, Waipoua Forest (Night Walk)
Indigenous Trails will pick you up in 'Auckland' to commence this '4-day journey' of 'Northland' and the 'Bay of Islands'. After a drive by of the 'City Sights' in and around Auckland, we travel north stopping at the 'Matakohe Kauri and Pioneer museum' where you will discover the role that these mighty trees have played in the lives of the early European arrivals to New Zealand. Thereafter we travel to 'Omapere',a small township nestled in the 'Hokianga Harbour'. The evenings highlight is an awesome 'Night Walk' amongst the giant 'Kauri Trees' in the 'Waipoua Forest'. Become immersed in a 'Spiritual Interactive' journey as your Indigenous guides explain the Mythology and Enviromental significance of this tree species, iconic to this region and it's 'Eco-system'.

Day 2:
Omapere - Bay of Islands
Today we the take a boat cruise of the Hokianga Harbour learning the history of this area made famous by ' Kupe', the first Maori navigator to Aotearoa, New Zealand before making our way to 'Waitangi'. On arrival at Waitangi you will be met by your guide and participate in paddling a contemporary Maori 'Waka - canoe' with the 'Haruru Falls' as your backdrop. The day comes to a close with a visit to the 'Waitangi Treaty Grounds'. Here you will be introduced to the heritage surrounding this important piece of New Zealand's historical past.

Day 3:
Paihia - 'Cream Trip' - Bay of Islands
Today is your chance to experience all the highlights of the magnificent Bay of Islands in one day on a 'cruise'.
This cruise follows the path of the original 1927 'Cream Trip' and will take you on a journey through the secluded Islands of the Bay, delivering essential supplies and mail to island residents. Travel through the ‘Hole in Rock’, ‘Cape Brett’ and take in the historical sites at ‘Marsden Cross’. Your day experience will stop at ‘Urupukapuka Island’ for lunch. Take a scenic walk or relax on the beautiful sandy beach.
While on this cruise you may see 'dolphins' in their natural environment. The Cream Trip is equipped with boom netting - a great way to get close to these wonderful creatures, even if you are not a confident swimmer in open water. The rest of the evening is yours to enjoy at your own liesure.

Day:4
Paihia - Auckland
We depart the Bay of Islands & Paihia stopping in Whangarei before arriving back in Auckland early afternoon.
