Description:
Welcome ...
Travel along one of Australia’s most scenic coastal drives as we journey' north of Port Douglas, to Cooya Beach where your hosts for the day, the 'Kubirri Warra brothers', will host a range of activities for you during the day ... like teach you how to 'throw a spear'. Walk with them on their traditional lands where they will show you the features and uses of this pristine countryside habitat relating to it's 'wildlife'.
Furthermore, learn how to track coastal resources through the 'mangroves', searching and hunting for 'fish', 'mud crabs' and 'mussels'... or ... even try some 'bush tucker' and 'bush medicines' ... nothing is wasted. For those not wanting to participate, an alternative arrangement can be accommodated for you by your guides.
Enjoy morning tea of fresh homemade damper, tea/coffee and the catch of the day on the balcony of their family home, overlooking the ocean. Your guides/hosts demonstrate different Aboriginal artifacts and their uses. Maybe try your hand at learning to play a 'didgeridoo'.
After morning tea, we continue north to the 'Daintree Village', for a '1-hour river cruise' on the mighty 'Daintree River'.
The 'Daintree River' was given 'Wet Tropics World Heritage' listing in 1988, and is home to a dazzling array of tropical life and mineral resources. It supports 'saltwater' and 'freshwater' marine life, including the 'saltwater crocodile' and the area is now primarily a tourist attraction.
After a 'picnic lunch' on the shores of the river we continue to the spectacular 'Niau Falls' and 'Tranquility on the Daintree' - a secluded 450acre private property. The 'Niau Falls' are a pristine natural wonder waiting for you to discover. You will see strange, primitive plants and learn about the original French settler family. Hear of their incredible story of survival. Your guided 'rainforest walk' will unlock the secrets of this fascinating 'eco-system'.
Time for a 'swim' in this magical rainforest environment, (don’t forget your swimmers). Your amazing day of discovery comes to a close as we make our way back and you are returned to your ship. |
